Life is stressful. You need our Door County beach.

May 16th, 2013
Each morning at the Glidden Lodge Beach Resort comes with a complimentary sunrise!

Each morning at the Glidden Lodge Beach Resort comes with a complimentary sunrise!

Life is stressful and sometimes you need a last minute road trip. The kind where you call a friend the night before, fill up the gas tank on the ride over to pick them up and make reservations on the way. You can’t do that during the busy summer and fall months in Door County but you can do it now.

We suggest you make those last minute reservations at the beach. Glidden Lodge Beach Resort, just north of Sturgeon Bay has 700 feet of beautiful sand beach on the shore of Lake Michigan.

This weekend is calling for 60-ish degree weather and maybe some rain on Saturday. Keep in mind, rain or shine our beach is a playground in and of itself. Throw on a windbreaker and hike 3.4 miles north to Whitefish Dunes State Park and take in the protected sand dunes as well as the historic tribal huts on their hiking trail. Hike a quarter mile to the south of the Glidden Lodge Beach Resort and explore Shivering Sands, the newest acquisition of the Door County Land Trust. And you can do all this without jumping in the car and driving anywhere!

After your outdoor adventures, come back to your whirlpool suite and create a meal to remember or head next door to Donny’s Glidden Lodge Restaurant. Their specialty are steaks and seafood, but their cocktails aren’t bad! No designated driver required because Donny’s is right next door.

And that’s only day one. Bring your bicycles and travel Glidden Drive, a scenic (newly paved) Lake Michigan road that you pick up right outside our parking lot.

Need any other ideas for a quick Door County road trip? Contact us today and we’ll give you more suggestions.

Our Guests Love Donny’s Glidden Lodge Restaurant

March 7th, 2013

donnys_drinks

Glidden Lodge Beach Resort is right next door to an outstanding restaurant that all our guests rave about. The restaurant is Donny’s Glidden Lodge (both the restaurant and the resort are located on Glidden Drive) and not only do they serve excellent food, they serve a really great cocktail too!

On most nights you will find the owner Tim behind the bar, but on this particular evening, Mary was mixing drinks and she mixed my personal favorite – a Whiskey Old Fashioned Press – to perfection!

We suggest you start your own Door County tradition in 2013: spend a weekend at the Glidden Lodge Beach Resort and while you’re there, dine at Donny’s right next door. And no driving necessary – it’s located a short walk through the parking lot.

Call us today and book your Door County getaway. Call 920-746-3900 or email us at frontdesk@gliddenlodge.com
