I know that Punxsutawney Phil saw his shadow on Groundhog’s Day but many other groundhogs did not – so let’s think POSITIVE!!  Spring is coming!!!

Welcome 2010!! I don’t know about you but here at Glidden we are ready for a new year.  We want to “step it up” from 2009 – you know take it up a notch!

In 2009 we updated all living room furniture which was such a wonderful upgrade and everything looks fresh  (we received great comments on this).

This year we are excited to announce that we have entered the bed wars.  Yes we are upgrading our mattresses so that everyone staying at Glidden Lodge Beach Resort can have a restful night sleep.  Soon we will also see other improvements like updating kitchen and bathroom flooring!

     The snow has started to fall and according to the forecast we are expecting more than a dusting!  This will hopefully begin those much loved winter activities like cross country skiing, ice skating, snowshoeing, and snowmobiling. 
     For snowmobile rental in Sturgeon Bay you can try May’s Sport’s Centeror bring your own sled.  The snowmobile trails start just down the road from Glidden Lodge Beach Resort!   There are places to rent cross country skis and a map of the local cross country ski trails.  Crossroads at Big Creek in Sturgeon Bay has recreational trails for sking and snowshoeing.

      Wow when the color peaks in Door County it is nothing short of AMAZING!!!  The colors are here and peak is still to dazzle us.  Click here for a fall foliage report.  You still have an opportunity to visit the Door for a last minute get-away AND there are many fall festivals and Halloween happenings to enjoy.
     October 10-11 enjoy the Pumpkin Patch Festival in Egg Harbor where you can see the town all decorated for fall and halloween plus enjoy special shopping and other events to get you in the spirit of the season!
     Also October 10-11 is the Penninsula State Park Spook-tacular hike from 5-7:30 – fun for all ages!
    Everyone has fun at Hands on Art Studio and October 10 is Art Day for Animals.   A fun day including crafts, animals, and fun – all for a good cause (to raise money for the Door County Humane Society).

Glidden Lodge Beach Resort is looking for guests of all ages who like to relax and/or play on our private sandy beach. We offer waterfront condos equipt with king bed, whirlpool, fireplace, and full kitchen with a private patio or balcony overlooking the water.  Please call for further details.  We have the perfect location for your last minute late summer getaway!!!

        Glidden Lodge Beach Resort has partnered with Horseshoe Bay Golf Club to provide the resort’s guests with access to the otherwise-private 18 hold  championship course. 
        Through October 2009, registered guests at Glidden Lodge, with a minimum of a two night stay, may enjoy Horseshoe Bay Golf Club for only $99 per golfer.  The fee includes the use of a golf cart.  For groups of four players or less, tee times may be made beginning 10 days prior to date of play.  Special arrangements can be made for larger groups.
       Golfers with this package also have access to the Club’s facilities for lunch and dinner.
        The Links-style layout plays 7,101 yards from the black tees and will challenge golfers of any skill level.  Winding through old Door County apple orchards, the course has been rated #7 in Wisconsin by Golf Digest Magazine.  The top 10 also include the famous Pete Dye-designed Whistling Straits, Blackwolf run, and the Jack Nicklaus-designed The Bull at Pinehurst Farms.
        Designed by renowned architects Rick Robbins and Brian Lussier of Robbins and Associates International, the Horseshoe Bay course was constructed in 2000 by Ryan Incorporated, Central.
        Reviews of the course on Yahoo speak volumes.  One reviewer calls Horseshoe Bay “…probably one of the most professional golf courses in the midwest.”  He adds that, once you get on the course, “…you are awe-struck.  The course is flawless.”  He also calls it “…a one-of-a-kind place.”
        Another reviewer states: “This is one of the  most beautiful courses I have ever played.  Very well maintained and so quiet that even when I hit a bad shot it doesn’t bother me because all I have to do is look around and it makes me smile again!”
        Glidden Lodge Beach Resort offers luxurious condominium rentals on the shores of Lake Michigan a short drive north of Sturgeon Bay.  It’s accomodations include one, two, and three bedroom units, all of which face the lake.  Features include a white-sand beach, indoor pool, hot tub and sauna, along with a tennis court, picnic area with gas grills, and an area for beach volleyball.
        Horseshoe Bay Golf Club is located near Egg Harbor, on the bluffs overlooking the waters of Green Bay.  It’s about a 20 minute drive from Glidden Lodge.
